Hi, been searching, haven't found the info I've been looking for...yet. Going to swap the 305 V8 in my 84 Camaro to a 350 330 hp engine. I'm hoping to install a true dual exhaust system with the car. I realize that will mean shorty headers, dual cats and then the muffler system back.
Has anyone totally replaced their stock Y pipe exhaust with a dual exhaust system with cats? If so, can you point me in the right direction for parts needed to do this, please?
Re: 84 Camaro 305 to 350 swap dual exhaust questions...
Unless you go with the Holley blackheart true dual system you will end up having to custom make one. Or limit some of the custom work by starting with a 4th gen speed engineering kit (way overkill for your goals). Any particular reason you want dual exhaust? For your power goals a single 3" system will suffice.
Here is a pic of my set-up. I have long tubes though and LS swap. Everything else is what you'll be facing. This is not for the faint of heart. Dual exhausts do not fit naturally under these cars and unless you don't mind banging and scraping yours up, you'll spend thousands to get it custom form fitted to the underside of your car.

I think that is your best bet. Not to mention, an exhaust like this leaves little room for mufflers, which means you often are forced to use bullet style which are loud and prone to drone. I needed a 600hp exhaust so it was this route or maybe a mufflex single 4". I kinda wish I did that instead, even if I lost a few ponies.

Well, that settles it. I put the quietest X pipe on my 04 Corvette to keep the noise down, and I definitely don't want a loud exhaust with the Camaro. How tough was it to convert over to the EFI setup on your LS motor with a kit for the wiring? There are 350 crate motors with EFI I might consider for this instead of using a carb.

No tougher than swapping any other non original motor into these cars. There is a plethora of aftermarket support and the LSX swap forum has enough reading material to get you going. EFI 350 is also an option since these cars came with TBI and TPI . However, there are other more modern SBC multiport setups (miniram, steathram, etc).
