What would make my exhaust tone change????

Here's what i did, i changed my stock intake for an edelbrock performer, along with a vacuum advance carb and distributor. I started the car and i noticed my exhaust tone change. It got throatier, Like a V8. Yes this is a 2.8L V6. I 'm running a hi-flo catco CAT and a flowmaster 80 series. But why has my tone changed i don't understand, maybe one of you guys could shed of light.

Thanks,
Rob

An intake with better flow will change your tone.
