Hello,
Anyone running this super 10 transverse muffler, Part # 8425810 ? Thoughts? Flowmaster site.
I am disappointed with it on my 1990 L98. I do still have the cats, bu t man the muffler is quiet. I have a single in dual out super ten on my 2007 truck and i love it. Should I just get something else? Wait until I remove the cats (Not easy unless I do it my)? I really love that tinny exhaust I hear like it's a huge 50 gallon drum barrel.
Thanks.
That should be one of the loudest Flomaster chambered mufflers. Did you run the car w/no muff? With lame cams, crappy manifolds, cat...these cars aren't that loud even w/no muffler.

Flowmaster usually kills some hp along with the annoying sounds they make on certain exhaust setups.
Definitely better mufflers out there. As said above, with stock manifolds and cats, you won't get very loud.
That's something you don't really want if you have a nice cruiser now. Imo.

I will leave it be. Just wanted a more aggressive sound.
Thanks for the reply.
For what its worth, all the high end stuff we always put good quality cats on.
some of the clientele we work with dont like the smell of exhaust, and the cats work great.
I agree. Hydrocarbons don't smell great. In fact, they smell like ****, make your cloths smell like.... well you get the idea.
If you want "a more aggressive sound"....then "delete" the muffler that you already told us you don't like....keep the cats that actually do something useful. Your hot date will appreciate it.

Older catalytic converters with beads inside robbed power. Modern design catalytic converters do not rob power. And without cats, you (as in your person) will badly stink of exhaust after you get out of the car.
People are always asking what exhaust to sound this way or that way. Just build for power and the sound will take care of itself.

^^All of this. We have a Dynomax Race Magnum Muffler on the back of an otherwise stock exhaust system on our '92, and it sounds great, IMHO. Just a bit of sound inside, and sounds almost like a muffler delete outside. The car seems to have plenty of power, too, for a stocker. And FlowMasters are not known for making power, just that 'Flowmaster' sound.
