Hooker Headers on before or after engine install??

Hooker Headers on before or after engine install??

I have a 350 and am putting the hooker competition shorty headers into an 86 camaro z-28. I am ready to install the motor, should I put the headers on before or after i install the engine??

during.. i don't know about thirdgens, but i know alot of people usualy install them before putting the engine in, but i DO know that on thirdgens, its easier to remove all the air crap and A\C crap, and LIFT then engine a few inches to fit the headers in. So u might try putting the engine in, leave it on the hoist, and try to fit the headers in, that way ur not banging them around and stuff while lowering the engine.

yes. If the engine is already in, you'll have to remove at least the dr. side motor mount bolt to get the header in, at least with slp's....

SOOOOOOooooo much easier that way. I put the plugs in as well.

I was doing engine-only (tranny stayed in the car). But, with tilt sling and taking your time (I spent about 1-1/2 hours from the time it was over the front bumper until the hoist was removed), it can be done quicker than putting them on after the engine is going in or is in.

Definitly before you put the engine in.They are a PITA otherwise..
