For those interested in side pipes...or anyone else...
I have heard alot of people discussing putting sidepipes on their F-Body over the past few years. I think I may have a solution that seems to work...at least it is for Ford.
I was with a buddy of mine today at a Ford dealership (he was getting his oil changed) and in the showroom they had a SVT Corba R (not for sale yet though). Anyway, I noticed it had sidepipes, so I thought I would have a look see how they did it. Here is what they did:
The exhaust follows what appears to be the same route through the mufflers at the back of the car, but instead of exiting out the back it has a turn in the pipe which takes it back about a foot in front of the rear wheel. From there it makes another bend to create about a 45* angle with the body of the car. The exhaust empties through double tips on each side right in front of the rear wheel. Basically it goes all the way to the back of the car (nearly) then comes back down beside the pipe that goes to the back and turns to empty in front of the rear wheels.
For those of you interested in side pipes or the side pipe look, this may be an answer to your problems. I don't know how the clearance under our cars will affect things, but I bet it could be done. Just an idea and I hope this makes sense. Good luck.
