Is your AIR system still on the engine?

AIR system....aka Smog Pump.

To be more specific (assuming yours is still on the car) there is a little black box-like device...or diverter with two hoses running out of it.

The hoses route air from the pump to the exhaust manifolds(cold engine) or the catalytic converter(warm engine) for emissions purposes.

A loose or leaky hose may be causing the ticking sound you are referring to.

I have a ticking sound that stops when it gets hot also. I've dismissed it as an exhaust leak that goes away when everything heats up and expands.

My 400 pesos...
