$200.00 to swap exhaust?

I have a freind that would trade me his flow master with my stock peice of ..... Well they want 100 to cut them both 50 a peice and 100 to weld them both 50 a peice. That adds up to 200 buck. No way man I'm not getting Jiped by these shist. I can get a welder and a hack saw for cheaper then that!! Any Ideas on how to do this cheaper. Has anyone else been ripped like that before? How much did you pay to get the exhaust done?

Depends on the labor rate, which is what you are really paying for.

If you do it yourself, take note of how much time and headache you spend and you will probably be ready to charge the same amount to someone else.

Believe me, I'm not saying that mechanics don't overcharge. But $200 sounds kinda fair to swap two exhuast systems between cars.

200 to swap two exhausts? i think 150 maybe closer but our shop has low labor rates but still thats fair, i am a mechanic, time is money. if you take into consideration, you have to drop the rearend to get the stock piece out without cutting it, then doing the same to your buddy's car, then swap them back, bolt everything up, there is going to be some time involved. if you think you are being ripped find your hack saw and welder. just my .02
