Header Problems???
Header Problems???
My mechanic said that headers on a third gen is a bad Idea. He said that thr tubes run too close ot the starter, causing it to heat-up and burn out. He said if I installed headers on my car that I'd get really good at changing "burnt up" starters.
I have never heard of this is it true??? Thanks

My headers are pretty close to the starter so I used that heat wrap stuff and it works fine. Absolutely no problems at all. Not getting headers is about the stupidest thing anyone could do if they want to build-up their engine. You'll be a lot faster, all other mods will benifit from them, and you'll even get better gas milage.
If you are worried about starter heat related problems buy a starter heat shield their not that expensive. You could also buy header wrap but I've heard that it is actually not good for the longevity of the headers, personally I think header wrap is ugly.

Or buy a shorty starter. Couple bucks more expensive but you'll never have a heatsoak problem and you'll have more clearance.
