What size pipe fits through the cat on a stock 1991 RS 305 TBI?

Just curious as to what size pipe will fit through the stock cat on a 1991 Camaro RS with a 305 TBI. I was thinking it was 2 1/4. Is it ID or OD? If anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

2-1/4 OD. maybe cut the ends off where the pipe meets the cat and then put a new one through the new hole.

Now, will 2 1/4 OD fit *over* the y-pipe or will i have to get one of those OD-ID extender things? Thanks for the information guys.
