I am considering purchasing a Hooker Catback system. The one on Jegs and Summit for $259 for 1983-1992 low output 305 (LO3 in my case) is the one i would be ordering...but i was wondering if this kit comes with the dual chrome split tips on either side like the one in the picture on their website. Any help would be nice. Thanx

 

i'm not really sure about it but i think it does come with those tips. even if not i would still get it because it sounds pretty good.

 

The only difference is the way they hook up to the cat. I just ordered the $200 one and had it welded on, and that one came with the tips. I'd call to be sure if you do get the $260 one.

 

The low output system does come with the tips. I got it for my trans am, and really like it. It sounds good, but is not as loud as I hoped. Oh well, headers and a 350 should solve that real soon...

I know this probably sounds wierd, but after driving my car for a couple of weeks ive noticed it being a lot louder and rumbles everytime i downshift. I love driving with my windows down to hear it all. I alway run on 93 octane now, I dont know if that did it.

 

You're wasting your money using 93 octane, you only need a certain octane to where detonation doesn't occur.

 

I reread this post, and realized it has gotten louder as its gotten broken in. When I first got the car I had open pipes on it, as the originals rusted off. It sounded awesome, but then again, it wouldve gotten me arrested and I couldnt hear myself think in the car. But the noise that came out of that thing was great. the car actually sounds meaner with the exhaust system on it, and I do drive the car around with my windows open just to listen. I like the sound better than those I've heard with flowmasters.

 

It's not loud on the inside is it?? I think Mark tried to post a soundbite when I asked this question before, but I don't remembering it working. Interior noise level is real important to me. And what's this about it "getting louder??" How loud?

I really like the sound it makes (via Mark's clip), and the fact that is doesn't sound like a flowmaster, but if the interior noise is too much, I just might have to settle for a Flowmaster Force II system.

 

P.S.- So the only difference between the $200 (16822) and the $260 (16820) is the hook-up to the cat? Does that mean the $200 will work just fine with my 91' RS if it's welded to the cat? That seems like an awful large difference in price just for the hook-up to the cat?

 

Hooker catback for only $200!? What? Mark, I thought yours (and everyone else's) was $260 which is a hundred more than the Dynomax setup I wanted (for flow not sound). However, $200 is only a little more and still less than the $230 Flowmaster! So which system is the one for single cat fellas like me? The $200 one please, please, please...
