headers for a carb. 305?
I have the same 305lg4. I am looking for a ceramic or jet coated. I have herd that SLP is the best but thoes are getting very high in price with the coated. Also, i dont want a clearence problem with the new headers so keep me away from ones that will take away clearance. So any other suggestions.

There ain't no free lunch...
I have my wires routed in the stock manner except for #4, which required a 90 degree boot rather than the straight like factory (no biggie). Spark plug access, though - I don't look forward to that first plug change.
There was a topic on best plug-to-header tube clearance a month or so ago. If you do a search on this forum, I believe you'll find it. As I recall, nobody claimed as good of plug access as the stock manifolds afforded.
Overall, I like the headers. Would have been nice to do the coating as well, had to draw the budget line somewhere. If you go with them, you'll need a 3" '86-later TPI single slip-fit inlet type cat to connect to the y-pipe.
Haven't heard a lot of complaints about the Hedman headers (at least, nothing you don't hear about headers in general). With their matching y-pipe, it's about the least expensive system you can get, in either emissions or non-emissions style.
