dual exhaust?

new onboard folks...glad to be here...my question is pretty simple (alot like me)...can "true" (from the headers back as opposed to dual pipes coming out of the muffler) dual exhaust be installed under my '82 'bird?...it doesn't lQQk like too much room underneith on the driver's side to me...I have more simple questions later but would be happy to have this one answered...guess by now y'all figured out by now that I am very new at this...y'all take care now and drive sober.....................................................fire82bird

I'd normally recommend that you use the search button conveniently located in the upper right of any page on this board. However, in this case it's even easier. As opposed to going right for the 'Post New Topic' button, take a look at the available threads: right at the top is "Read For Dual Exhaust For The Masses" with 2 pages of content containing 77 posts (at this time). Also further down you will see "Dual Exhaust." Check the first one and you'll probably hear more about both dual exhaust and a given persons personality problems (whether directly stated via name callling or implied by message content) than you want to hear! Have fun, and no that first one is not representative of all the members on the board... just those lacking self esteem or knowledge... among other things.

However the short answer is... kinda. It is physically possible, but often the advantages are outweighed by the disadvantages. Yes, the amount of room under the car is lacking. As such, a dual exhaust system can easily reduce ground clearance too severely. Also, there are no aftermarket systems available to do this, so you'd have to fabricate a system (dynomax system is a possibility, but no solid pics/info yet)
