Comparison to OEM bumper.
Usually, they look like the one on the right. Repro in the middle. Decent original on the left for reference.
Why you should replace them... The visible result, chipped glass from catching the dew wipe screws.
The screw, and damage showing the window below the screw head. The window actually drops further below the screw without the stop, I ran the window up a bit to get the damage and the screw visible between the weatherstrips.
Then buddy, have I got a deal for you! Many people don't know that GM installed a rubber bumper on the bottom of the window tracks to function as a soft stop, to keep the window from rattling, and to prevent it from rolling down PAST the window scraper weatherstrip. Over time, and after abusive owners holding down the power window button after the window is all the way down, these bumpers tend to deteriorate. They get hard, crack, and eventually all that remains is a rivet where the bumper once was. When the bumper isn't present, the window can drop down far enough to potentially catch on the weatherstrip screws, causing unsightly chips in the glass!
Up until now there was no source of accurate replacements. GM considered the bumper part of the window track and never assigned it a service part number! But now as part of a scientific breakthrough in parts sourcing technology, Drew-It-Yourself Industries brings you the most accurate replacement rubber window stop bumper ever offered for the 82-92 Camaro and Firebird!
Seriously though, I wasn't going to pay OER prices for a rubber bumper that wasn't even close to the original. The downside is I had to order a minimum quantity of 25. So I'm passing on the savings to anyone else who needs a replacement. These are as close as I could find to the originals. They have an impregnated steel washer reinforcement. The existing pop-rivet from the original bumper has to be drilled/removed, then the new bumper can be bolted, screwed, or riveted back to the window track. The mounting depth of these bumpers may require a longer rivet or bolt than the originals. They have a 3/16" diameter mounting hole.

- If you have ever found a chunk of petrified rubber rattling around in the bottom of your door...
- If you have a nasty chip in the top edge of your side glass...
- If you are working inside the door of your thirdgen...
- If you hate the rattle of your window when you close your door with the window down...

You have a reply.
Also just finished pulling a mostly good OEM bumper for comparison purposes. The overall height is about 1/16" shorter than OEM, and the depth of the mounting hole is taller, so there's more meat between the base and the fastener. Otherwise they're very close.

As I'm working through my cars changing these bump stops, I've had the chance to take a photo showing how the bumpers usually look, and why they need to be replaced.
The stock bumper on the right is typical for cars with power windows. These chunks were fished from the bottom of the doors on my 87 with 61K on the clock.

UPS guy was just here, so I've got more bumpers ready to ship if anyone needs them.
Also just pulled this one out of my Irocs passenger door. One big crumble in the bottom of the door, the remaining bumper was completely destroyed.
Also made a thread with pics of how these are removed and replaced. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...p-bumpers.html

Anybody who reads this and hasn't bought a set yet needs to stop waiting and buy a set. If he runs out these then they will again be a hard to find part and you will with pay 3x as much or they will be part of some kit. Only ten dollars? Our wives spend that on just two coffees guys.

Re: FS: Reproduction Window Stop Bumpers $10/pair
Trouble with shipping international is the paperwork. My local post office counter folks inevitably give me the wrong customs forms to fill out, and I end up driving back and forth to the post office and standing in line to make $3 off a pair of rubber bumpers. Or the buyer gets upset because they had to pay a duty fee, etc. I want to help folks out, but it's a bit more involved than plugging an address into Paypal, clicking print, and handing the package to the mail lady. That said, I've had a few requests lately for international, so I'll look online and see if I can find the forms. In the meantime... If you've got a US mailing address or a broker that can forward mail from a US address, I can do that. Plenty of international (Mexico, Ukraine, Korea) buyers on Ebay have been using that workaround for years to get around my "no international" policy.

Yep, just opens up a few new pitfalls since I don't get much call for international. PM me your mailing address, and I'll look into it a bit today when I get a minute and potentially interrogate the postal drone in the morning to see if it's possible.
