why not just strip and repaint them gold? Classic industries sells the factory correct gold in their catalog. it is stock number 11035 for gold and 11045 for silver it is 39.95 a can. it is in a spray can also for ease of use. seems like alot for spray paint but it is a licensed oem product and is factory correct color. and $40 is cheaper than it would cost to ship the rims back and forth. plus they will look brand new unless they have curb rash. hope this helps.

also just use a good automotive clear coat. myself I would use a non yellowing high heat clear. (engine block clear coat maybe) it should hold up alot better than the cheap crap chevy used. the masking part is real easy with all the sharp edges all over just use masking tape and a small hammer and tap along the sharp edges.
