I've got a 92 bird and I'm looking to swap in trans am tail lights. I know you also need a new wiring harness to do this so that would be appreciated too. But the tailights would be an incredible start for now.

 

I have a nice set from an 88 TA with the center section if your interested. They are the grid style with the silver bird insignia in the center section. PM me for pics or any questions.

 

Here are the pics. I don't have the wiring for them but I don't think it is to hard to rig them up. There is one tab missing on the left rear light but it doesn't effect anything because there are four others. They are a nice looking set. I would take 75 plus 15 shipping. 90 Total

LOL, yea they look sweet displayed like that. I just used night lights in them to light em up.

 

What tail lights do you currently have? The different tail light types have very different lights in them & do require some rewiring, sometimes under the dash, as well as the tail light wiring behind the lights & well as different sockets for the lights.

Look into that before you leap. Its not TOO hard, but something to think about. Some times the different wiring for them, made my STS light installs for people a little tricky.

 

I currently have a 92 Firebird base model, which just has standard tailights, same one the 91-92 Formula wears. How bad do you think it will be?

 

Check with BigBadLou. I know he did it on FYRCHKN's '91 'bird.

I got a spare set of 85-90 Trans am Tail lights for $85 plus shipping

 

Nothing received yet. Just follow all of pypal's directions. It takes a couple days for your account to be activated.

 

You have 2 options on wiring up the lights and how they will work.

Option 1 is to rewire the brake and turn circuit under the dash and rewire the tail light harness so that the lights operate like a Trans Am. this is the hardest way.

Option 2 is the easier way and the way I did mine on my Formula.
Replace the turn signal bulb on the stock harness since it was too long, grabbed one off of a spare harness I had.
This will use the corners of the housings as the turn signal, just like using 91-92 Trans Am tail lights.
