Rear Brace/harness mount point idea
I was thinking of fabbing this up to mount harnesses on and stiffen the car up a bit. They would be mounted via six hex screws through the body [per mount point], the outer side would have a reinforcement plate. The main point where the horizontal bar (the main part) bolts is to where the mount for the backrest of the rear seat was (I removed the rear seats). Also the car also has semi-custom SFC, and will have a STB; 3 point (maybe a custom 4 point or something). The only reason I don’t just get a roll cage is because this car has to also look good (I want it to look like is came from the factory that way).

I've seen it done, but the lateral bar was much lower, almost on the floor (did not notice it at a glance). I think it was there just for the harnesses (not for strength).

I **think** i see what you are getting at.
IMHO, if you are going to be mounting a harness to it, it should only be mount 2 ways.
1) to a roll bar, that is properly installed.
2) if the harness bar is mounted directly to the rear seatbelt mounts, they are designed to take the force.
i would not feel confortable trusting my life with something that is just mounted to any old place on the body,

I don’t think I explained it properly. I meant to weld a SS metal plate where the mount points for the brace will be (making it just like low profile roll cage, maybe even more tuff). Next I will bolt it down using six hex head machine screws, at least 1/4 inc wide. Also I will be mounting the horizontal bar where the old peg that the rear seat latched onto. Remember I will be reinforcing the point points with reinforcing plates; mig welded (thoroughly) to the other side of the body. I also plan on using locking nuts on the other side (probably castle head w/ cotter pins).

I'm pretty sure the shoulder harness should be angled down at no more than a 45* angle. The theory is that the harness will pull down on your back in a frontal collision, thus possible causing some back damage. My harness is bolted through a large washer that is behind the verticle part of the floor board behind the back seat. The seat has to be folded down to reach the eyebolt.
Though I don’t have the car in front of me right now I think it's quite of a bit less than 45 degrees of angle from the rear brace and the ports in the seats. This brace is going to be on the top part, above the low part of the car, it would be to where the pin for the flip down rear seat (on an 89' Camaro) clips. I think that would be far less then 45 degrees.
If anyone has a Camaro handy, could they take a measurement for me THANKS.
Also I'm not using the stock seats (if that makes a difference). When I next see the Camaro I will be gutting it, this is the seats I will be getting, sparcos, (I think this will lower the slope of the harnesses).

SlowTA -- you are correct for the lap belts. they should be mounted at a 45* angle.
the shoulder belts should end up being about 90* from the back line of the driver, so it will vary on driver position as to the actual angle compared to the car.

1) Anti-submarine belt should be anchored behind the chest line.
2) Seat belts anchored apart, the width of driver, at an angle of 45 degrees to the floor of the car.
3) Anchor shoulder straps at a point four inches below top of shoulder.
4) Seat belt anchor should be positioned 2-1/2" forward of the driver's extended back line.
All mounting brackets should be attached directly to the frame or chassis of car, and installed to limit the driver's body travel both upward and forward. DO NOT MOUNT TO THE SHEET METAL FLOORBOARD.

Also I think the mounting point like in the picture the straps can not mount any lower than 3" from your shoulders might be 4". They say any lower and you risk compression on an impact.
I was thinking 3" for some reason maybe was just the mounting height of the cross bar in a roll bar setup.

I was under the impression this mount was more for a mounting point for racing harnesses than structural. But yeah anything helps. That's why people who autocross put the x-brace between the rear bars after a roll bar install.
