I have just purchased a Jegster 10 point cage for my car - still awaiting arrival
Anyways I am beginning to plot where the bars are going to attach
(car interior and fuel tank are all removed)
on most pics I see it looks as if
1) the rear facing roll bars go through the rear deck that
covers the gas tank lid
or
2) are they just welded to the rear decklid that covers the
gas tank
which one is it??
and if it is 1) above, where does it attach to ?

For use since we're unibody we use 6" x 6" steel plates to weld the tubes on to. If we were full frames then it would be required to cut and weld to the frame directly.
Main thing for the rear bars is you want them close to the shock towers and you want them to come straight back off the main hoop.
Some people angle them (to the sides) like / \ you want them to come off the main hoop at 90 degree | |. Problem with angling it gives the main hoop a chance of maybe collapsing backwards.

so the plates that are supplied weld to the sides of shock tower or deck next to the shock towers and then you weld the roll bar to the plates -
Basically if I understand correctly, you dont need to cut through the upper deck tin behind the seats and find a place like a piece of chassis underneath to attach the roll bar too???

there is no chassis... the floorpan IS the car. there are no framerails....
so you weld a large plate to the floorpan to spread the force to a larger surface area, then weld the bar to the plate.

Exactly! The kit should come with steel plates. 2 for the side bars to the floor, 2 for the main hoop and 2 for the rear hoop. They don't provide the ones for the crossmember to trans tunnel ones (I made my own for those). There is no frame for use to weld to so we just weld down the plates on the sheet metal then the bars mount in the center of the plates.

thats alot of bars how many puts is that 15 18 alot more than you would need unless your in the 9s

there are 12 points connected to the floor with 6x6" 1/8" steel plates, alston and comp engineering sfc's, the x brace on the rear bars, all this adds up to a stiff car for auto X. that is what i am gona lean the setup to. there is more than needed for the drag strip, but thats not its intended purpose.

any ideas on welding a cage into a notchback car and maintaining the rear seats? i have a notch and would like to keep my back seat. i also have a jegs roll cage. didnt need anything fancy. its been sitting in the gurage for almost 3 years now so im figuring its about time to use it
