Making the louvre "thingies" functional?

Anyone who has made the intakes on found on firebird TA/GTA hoods functional?
Any idea what kind of work is involved, what parts would be required and is it worth it?

Actually, within the last couple of months, I sold a TPI dual snorkel airbox to someone who wanted it just to try what you are asking about.

I don't know of any details on it, or if it even worked, but from what I understand, he flipped the TPI airbox upside-down and connected the openings to the vents in the hood.

But, like I said, I don't know anything else about it, and I haven't seen it. This is just what I was told he was going to do with it.

I wonder if it worked?

I was going to try something like that, but the vents on my 86 t/a hood are right above the hood latch. so when the trunk closes, the vents sit on the nose of the car; there is no engine bay under them. Because i would have to cut into the body to make the front ones functional, i'm just going to take advantage of not having foglights in now. I'm gonna just make some ducting that will go from the foglights to the intake and instant ram air. I think i am going to use screen door mesh in the inner tubing so it will stop rocks and other particles from getting into the engine. I'll have to clean the filter a lot more and have to switch to something besides my open element though. If you try it, i'd love to know how it came out.

what hes talking about is on camaros where the hood latch goes they have a tpi dual snorkel, the hood vents sit right on top of them but it would be modifacation of the hood and dual snorkel, but i did it to a v6 firebird, and it seemed like it breathed better...
