AutoMeter Custom Gauges Need a little help
I took the stock black piece and made the holes larger to put my speedo, tac, volts, and fuel level in. I am doing a motor swap and I am using all aftermarket gauges. Anyone done this and made turn signal lights and warning lights still work? And how hard it to hook all this stuff up? The engine is a lt1 carbed. Transmission is a th-350. Any info would be helpful.. thanks

what warning lights with a carb? besides the brake light you mean?
anyways i just bought a thin piece of sheet aluminum from home depot and drilled out the holes for the guages. then i bought some 1/2inch lights from radio shack for the turn signals and the brights. basically there's a light green and dark green wire for the turn signals i think(might be blue, have to check schematics) and then a green or blue wire for the bright signal. Other than that it's easy to wire up. schematics can be found online easily enough.

Like xpndbl3 says, you can wire up bulbs to replace the turn signal, brake , choke and idiot lights without too much difficulty.
When you get a fuel gauge, try to get one that works with the factory GM sender in the tank, it'll be a lot easier than replacing the sender.
As long as you're making your own panel, you could replace the idiot lights with gauges while you're at it. Just replace the factory coolant temperature and oil pressure switches with senders for the gauges and use the existing wiring.

Yeah I have all Phantom autometer gauges
speedo, tac, fuel level, volts, already been hooked up in the water temperature and oil pressure. thinking about getting a transmission temp also. We just werent sure since I took that white piece out my husband said something about without that piece the lights would be able to make contact.. I dunno tho

When I still had the 3rd gen dash installed I had a custom dash for these gauges in there, but after installing the 4th gen stuff I had to rdo it again. Very simple and easy to do. I plan on redoing this one again once the drivetrain is finished since I wanted carbon fiber behind the gauges but the wait really ate into the cars schedule for the racing season so I had to make do.
This is an old pic when under construction but I think you can make out the little lights like your referring too.
