Is there any way to improve on the stock dual snorkel system?

I was looking at LS1 aftermarket lids and notice how they have a larger hump and the thirdgen dual snorkel is has a very thin height. What kind of materials would you use to make a custom dual snorkel lid? Im wondering if its possible to raise the height on the dual snorkel system to allow more air into the entire setup? Ideas? Opinions?

PS: I realize this is someone who fabricated a LS1 lid on a LT1 4th gen. Just using it for the lid reference.

LS1 lid example:

I was thinking the same thing as you. I am planning on making something out of polished stainless. I already did the hogging out of the air box, but I want to extent it down to the opening in the nose. Although that portion I wont do in polished stainless, because you wont see that part. (FYI my Z is out of the paint shop and is awsome once more.)

How much clearance to the hood is there above the tubes? Might want to check that with modelling clay first to see how much room is available for larger tubing, and go from there. Of course, you could always remove some hood bracing for extra clearance.

If I remeber right the underhood padding sits right on the lid. So, removing that and some braces should work out good.
