well i would do the regular straight back way and add the x to it. this will make it even stronger. many race cars with tubular frames do this method.

I think that would get you a similiar Triangle effect but you wouldn't have to worry about blocking trans removal.
Throw in a tough heavy duty Spohn transmission crossmember (like the ones found on his tq arms) and call it done.
