Has anyone made their own crossmember? I will be constructing one.. since to buy one will kill me in shipping and duty.

was wondering how high up the transmission sits.

and if someone has made one. if they can share their efforts.

thanks

Yep. Made two. There is a bushing on the top rear of the t56 trans that should be about a half inch from the tunnel. Just measure/mark your stock trannies exact output shaft location and bolt up the t56 to the engine and jack it up to the same spot. I used a screw type mechanical jack to hold the trans in place so it would net ever settle or sink like a hydraulic would. I then used 3" angle iron and made two pieces for the frame rails and bolted them up. Then I used anotherpiece of 3" angle and carefully fit it to the wonky angles of the two frame pieces and tacked it in and drilled the trans mount holes. After that I yanked it out and welded it all up nice on the bench and trimmed the low spots down nice. Took about four hours all said and done. Not difficult just fiddly especially getting it all gusseted and the odd angles fit nice. Good luck

by bushing.. do you mean the small rubber mount on the top of the transmission?

also, anyone know what the pinion angle should be? I can just move tranny to the spot that gives me the correct angle.

When I made mine, I just took a measurement from the center of the yoke to the floor (on a right angle) with the old trans in, then just jacked up the T56 to the same measurement and went from there.

Yes the bushing is the small notched black rubber bumper thing on top of the tranny just behind the shifter plate. As for pinion angle... wrong place to focus your efforts IMO. The lowest part on the car will be the bottom of the tranny crossmember so tuck it up there tightly and make/get an adjustable torque arm bracket. It depends on how low your car is but mine has the Prokit and I have scraped the crossmember on a couple of heavy bumps.
