Hey guys ive searched but cant find a page that says how to install the fourth gen brake cables on a thirdgen.

I have all 3 4th gen brake cables on my car only because i had a 4th gen e-brake handle and a 4th gen rear with disc brakes. I had a welder buddy weld up brackets underneath the car. I measured the distance between the brackets on a 4th gen. I have heard there is an aftermarket kit available but i can't find the link for it. Easiest would be to get the bracket thing off of a 4th gen but i dont know how hard that could be.

I left the 3rd gen cable from the E-brake handle into the tunnel, and the pieces from the "split" to the rear of the tunnel in tact. I also got a 4th gen rear with the E-brake cables in tact. I connected the 4th gen cables to the 3rd gen cables with
wire rope clips - you can get stainless ones at Home Depot for like $6, I used two on each side - got the length correct, and attached the two ends, then just cut off the remaining ends not needed. Works great, and it's all tucked in the tunnel where no one ever sees it.

I didn't find the distance for the 4th gen e-brake brackets in there... so no beer for you.

 

to give you a ruff idea...

i used 3 mounts. Pretty thick metal so it wouldn't bend. 2 for the rear, 1 for front. Each mount was a 90-degree piece of metal with a hole drilled through it. The hole was drilled just big enough for the "clamps" on the cables. The rear 2 lined up to the edge of the thirdgen ebracket plate. The front one went back 3-5 inches from where the front thirdgen mount was for the front thirdgen cable. Before welding these mounts i made the thirdgen plate almost completely flat.

Reminder... i used all 3 ebrake cables from a 93 trans am with a 2002 trans am ebrake handle and a 95 z28 rear with LT1 disc brakes
