Im looking to make a compartment or really just a housing for my creative labs zen micro. I figured i should come here for opinions on what to make it out of anf should it be back lit and should it have a cover. Im really interested in either mounting it where the power window switches go and maybe and ipod one too or possible above the climate controls in that gap under the dash. I was thinking maybe plexy sunk into in and back lit red with a possible dimmer switch but im not sure how hard this would be and ive never fab'd anything for any car before.

please give suggestion on materials, location, and appearences that i should or shouldnt have.

 

possibly fab something that attaches to the top of the radio pod, make it out of sheet metal and paint it with some black crinkle paint to match, have a cutout for the screen and maybe wire some sort of dim light that will illuminate the screen, witht that style MP3 player, isnt the controls on the side, versus the front like an Ipod? if you had some pics of the actual unit it would be helpful, i could possibly draw you somehting up, im kinda bored and have nothing to do all day lol

 

the attached file is my sen but it might be hard to see it has a small ring of blue around the edge the picture over exagerates that blue outline. i have a red car though and i was thinking possibly light this box white and make and ipod one for when my friends ride with me and light that red cause ive got ten 5 led wide angle bulbs that im not using for anything.
