If you get a fine tooth jigsaw blade and the cirtcle attachment(usually included with the jigsaw) you can cut a perfect circle in the hood.. Basically you drill a hole in the exact center of the hood.. then the centerig jig locates off that hole.

Jig saw would work. Also check an air saw. Harbor freight has them on sale right now for 20-30 bucks. Perfect for trimming body parts. And plastic too!

i did mine with a sawzall and it came out well, but i had no intention of keeping hood for more that a couple months. a bit of advise though, the engine is NOT in the center of the car so pick up an offset aircleaner so you can cut the hole in the middle of the hood. if you dont it will look like a$$ and you WILL regret it.

I took a 15" piece of string and tied it around the air cleaner stud, and a sharpie around the other end and puled the string tight and went around in a circle underneath the hood to make a hole perfectly around for the air cleaner to fit through. jigsaw worked best for me...

you could always just measure to where the center of the cleaner is and drill a small hole now use a circle cutter from home depot or lowes to make your mark on the hood. its pretty much a spine atached to a rod with a wheel on the end and if you push a little bit it should scratch out the circle perfectly. then you can go at it with a number of things including a jigsaw or sawzall or even a rotozip with a good bit in it(if your hood is fiberglass), or a plasma cutter. there are a number of tools to do this stuff with but you deffinately need to make sure your mark is made perfectly otherwise it will look shitty.
Why not put a bolt in for your center hole, and make a little jig to hold your plasma cutter or nibbler or whatever, and just run a circle with it. Same idea as a pencil compass.
