some will let you get away with a beer can or pop bottle. Just use a piece of hose and tape it to a bottle. too easy.

Must hold a minimum of 1 pint.

I use a rad overflow bottle from an old Volvo 240. Nice round bottle with mounting bracket and has a bottom feed. I guess it's more of a surge tank but still does the job. Rad is always full and I just keep a minimum of fluid in the overflow.

i know about tape!!!! seen that before, and that would be too easy!!!! trying to come up with something a little more creative than that. i just said empty beer can in the original post because i have a few laying around!!! haven't seen many volvos around here either, but some thing like that i'll look for. don't want my car to look like i built it with trash i picked up on the side of the highway on the way to the track!!!!!

Since you don't want to fabricate something, just buy one of these.

Re: over flow catch can????

Old thread, I know.

I must be stupid or something, but I installed a catch can with a drain valve, inlet, and a vent port in my Camaro. The goal is to simply replace the ugly stock overflow tank. However, it isn't recirculating, any idea why?

Re: over flow catch can????

A catch can is not an overflow, it is simply there to catch what comes out so it won't drip on the track. an overflow will have an inlet at the bottom, when the pressure in the radiator drops and the cap opens back up it can siphon back into the radiator; a catch can has no provision for this because the inlet is at top. The valve at the bottom is so you can drain it off and dump it back in your radiator if needed.

Re: over flow catch can????

Ended up buying a recirculating catch can off of summit, some red 1 liter can thing. Works well. Thanks for the replies.
