The panels definitely came out very clean and stock appearing.

I've done some interior panels from scratch, I tend to weld up a very small tubing frame(usually 3/8 tubing, tack welded together), wrap it in fleece and resin away. By using fleece you can pull/stretch it and make it form curves and such as needed.

 

what kind of 3/8" tubing do you use?

 

i would assume steel or stainless, and as thin walled as possible.


sorry for no updates to this, i have had no time to work on the last panel yet this year, hopefully i can find some time soon to finish it up.

 

Just small hardware store steel tubing, tack welded together to form a frame. I've used 1/4" solid rod as well, but it makes for considerbaly more square corners than the 3/8" tubing. - Vary the size according to what you want it to look like. By using fleece instead of fiberglass mat, you can stretch it to form long arcs and such.

 

"Extreme 4x4" TV show had an episode on it where they did a custom interior on an S10. Am gonna give the link so you'll can see kinda what "Shagwell" is talking about. Like said there are few different ways to custom mold.
