cup holders

i am trying to install the cupholder fabrication mentioned and i went to take of the shift **** and the clip that is supposed to pull out went in and i cant do anything and i need help on what i need to do to get the **** off any help would be great thanx

Are you referring to the clip that retains the **** and faces the front of the car (because there is a second one for the button IIRC)? If so, mine was pushed in pretty far when I had to remove it, so I cut the leather slightly larger around where the clip is, and used a thin flat head screwdriver and very small needle nose pliers and it came right out.
