RUST!!
ok so i just bought a 1983 z28, i have completley gutted it and came across alot of rust, somone before me has already patched up the floor but they didnt get rid of the old rust, therefore the cancer was still there just slowed down a bit, now i have the driverside rear seat area all cut out and some of the rear fender, im wonderin what im gonna have to do to re-enforce the lower control arm plate so i can get this thing goin, heres some pics of what im workin with.

Re: RUST!!
Wow, I don't feel so discouraged with my rust bucket anymore. I don't think flat sheet steel will be enough unless you strengthen it by adding "ribs" (don't know the correct term) like the factory did.

Re: RUST!!
yea i know for a fact sheet metal wont cure my problem, but explain to me what u mean by ribs... i mean its pretty solid but i want to enforce the problem better than factory, so that i dont ever have to worry about it ya know... and i dont want to go out of my way and do work if i dont have to lol

I would say after you get your sub-frame connectors in you shouldn't have to worry about it

Re: RUST!!
just weld up the rear spool! take the cover off, pull out the rear gear, weld in the side spyder gears, take it to a welding shop if ya have to , leave the top n bottom spyders out, throw em away lol put it back in and u now have a posi rear gear... not the professional way of goin about it but it does work like a charm and make sure the weld is a good bead or u can blow out the housing and then u gotta replace the rear end lol tmrw ill hit my storage unit and take a few pics of my 4.10 spool thats welded up
