CAI Question

I have a carbureted lg4 (for now), and I have an idea for a simple Cold Air Intake. Couldn't you just cut a 4" hole in the firewall, and run a short length of 4" tubing to a carb hat or regular air cleaner base? This would be simple and not clutter the engine bay too much.

I welcome any thoughts, opinions, or pics!

Re: CAI Question

Where are you going to find 4" to cut a hole, and how are you going to get air into it through the dash?

Re: CAI Question

Hmm... I may be a little ignorant on the subject, but my understanding was that the cowl vents would route cold air in. Obviously, I haven't gotten beyond the brainstorming phase here...

Re: CAI Question

Could relocate the evap canister and run it through there, in the front corner of the car. Down through and in front of the fender well.

Re: CAI Question

he means the open area under the wiper arms. yes it would work but it seems like you would hack the car just for a couple HP? good idea in thought but I just would shy away from it

Re: CAI Question

Yeah, I did mean the open area under the wiper arms. It seems like it would be a pretty clean install without running a tube all the way to the front of the car. I had cosidered running it through the front where the evap canister is, but just trying for something cleaner.

Thanks for the input!

Re: CAI Question

Thats the duct for A/C and heat right? I think it would be cool. Just make sure its routed so that no water is getting funneled in I guess.
