Re: has this ever been done before????

Remember the dark red convertible that was on ebay a while back? Someone linked to it in either the vert section of the history board. That guy cut out his center section and stuck a big chrome grillout of some 30's or 40's style car. Looked hideous. There is little that can be done to improve the looks of a third gen.

Someone should start a "What you should not do" sticky and that should be in the first post.

Will someone please buy that car and either crush it or fix the front end? That's awful.

I remember that car. Also it had 2 exhaust outlets in the back and he admitted the side ones were plastic or something. Not to mention the whole inside was wood grained...

Guys I think he is talking about cutting the headlight assembly where the upper radiator support holds the headlight assembly. Why I don't know.

Re: has this ever been done before????

WOW! I would never have dreamed I would see such a horrid conversion. There is really nothing I can say about that car without the use of generous amounts of profanity. Needless to say, if I was ever driving around and saw that car, I would be honor bound to do the owner serious body harm by putting his head between that grill and my boot.

Vomit on wheels!! I love that, but its just not enough to cover such an injustice.

Re: has this ever been done before????

I'll start off by saying yes, that grill is terrible looking. However, maybe the original poster is thinking about giving a 3rd gen Camaro more of a 1st/5th gen camaro look. by having the entire front recessed along with the headlights. I don't know if it would work out well, but it'd be interesting to see a photoshop of it. I think the biggest problem is how much further out the bottom of the headlight pocket is than the top. it'd look like a huge shelf up front.

everything has been done before! none of us can come up with something new. there are some pretty serious fabricators playing with 3rd gens, 2nd and even 1st.
whether they told anyone about it or not - is the question.
but some do it - and tell us - and gives up important info on what NOT TO DO.
like the grill on the camaro shown here.
it is right out of pimp my ride - cheap garbage made to make a different piece of cheap garbage look not so cheap - but still be garbage.

Re: has this ever been done before????

I think that's some of the best looking side-exit exhaust I've seen on a third gen though. The grill looks horrible though, complete waste of money and time.

Seems like other people are interested in that look also: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/auto...e-concept.html

There were drawings of that concept in the magazine, but I can't find them online.

Re: has this ever been done before????

its not that the side pipes look good.
its that they are the one single part of the car that isnt hideous.
like how semi-ok looking girls hang out with fat chicks to make them look better...
its all a matter of perspective

dude thats hysterical and so true. I must say if I saw that car driving around while in my truck I would have to hit that front end "accidentally" then pay to have to replaced and repainted with the factory nose...
