Re: a/c delete help please

Oh - that's going to depend on the year of the a/c delete box and the year of your car - I had to cut my OEM connector off and crimp on ends cause my a/c delete box was older than my car and the connector wouldn't match. You'll probably have to do the same.

Re: a/c delete help please

sorry but I'm not buying it.......

you have a 4 prong connector that goes the relay

and if you use the motor for the non a-c it has 1 prong, and than you have a ground tab near the edge of the motor.....

someone has to have a picture of this, of what color wires you use to tap into or splice for the single prong on the motor, and which one is the ground.

someone else please help...I know this has been done, I just can't find a good picture

Re: a/c delete help please

okay 1 more time.....I'm not using the blower motor from the a/c unit....

the blower motor that is used for non a/c's have a single prong on the motor itself.....I've swaped the relay's over and will use the original 4 prong connector from the harness....all I need is to knwo and picture is which color wire from the 4 pin connector do you use to plug into the motor and which is the ground to use .

Re: a/c delete help please

So you don't have the original connector still in place from the relay to the fan motor then. That's why this isn't making sense. I can look at mine tomorrow and see, and post up tomorrow night.

Re: a/c delete help please

See on your 4 prong connector the purple wires? One goes to the relay. There's also purple wire to the + side of the fan motor. At least that's how mine is. My fan motor has 2 prongs, one for ground. Maybe yours grounds it self, or maybe you just need a ground from the housing to the relay or something - not sure on that part.

Sham-Wow!

Re: a/c delete help please

The non A/C blower motors don't have a ground wire to them since they are grounded through the steel heater box. The A/C motors do have a ground wire to them since they can't ground through the fiberglass A/C box.
Is that what the cofusion is about? That connector in the second pic isn't for the blower motor. May be for some other A/C component.

Some of the non-a/c boxes do have a ground connection - mine does. But yeah, there are some without as well.

Whether it does or not, you don't need a ground wire on a non A/C box.

Re: a/c delete help please

I could not get the four prong connector to work on mine, nor could i get the four prong resistor to go into my a/c delete box without cutting it.I used the connector that came with the a/c delete box.

I know you dont want to cut wires unless you have to but i cut off the four wires from the connectors and used the process of elimination to figure out which ones worked.I do however only have 2 speeds now.High and low which is fine with me.Other than that i`m not sure what else you need to know.it was pretty straight forward.

I also found that I had to use a non a/c blower motor and squirrel cage/blower fan to get it to fit properly. The a/c blower motor shaft is too long and makes the blower cage hit the firewall.IIRC the blower fan is differant as well.Mine does have and needs the ground for some reason.

Re: a/c delete help please

Sorry, forgot about this thread.I`ll try to take some pics tomorrow.Let me just make sure I understand what you need to know. You need to know which wire is power for the blower motor, right? On my 87 it is a purple wire. That 2 prong connector you have a pic of looks like it may be it.Its been awhile sense I did this so I dont remember if mine had that connector but i`ll see what I can come up with.

Re: a/c delete help please

on the late 3rd gen.. say 90/91/92 (it works for others as well.)

this is all i had to do to my 92 Z28
and it looks like factry heater box install under the hood.
the only part to buy..was the heater box!

you just take your Squirrel cage. And cut the end down.
making it shorter.. so it fits inside the Heater box. all of your plugs will Just swap over..

no wires to cut nothing to over think... and it works and looks clean.

you use you blower motor... all your plugs.. from your A/C box.
just swap over to Heater box.. plug and play.
you have all your speeds.. just like before.. but now it's just a heater box.

you cut off the last 3/4" of the squirrel cage..
till it fits and spins inside the heater box.. test and tune..
after all it's a $5.00 part. and can be picks up at any parts yard.off any GM auto with air..

in the photos below..

the gray plug. and the (Fan 4-speed resistor) its pluged into should come off the A/C Box. your taking off your car..

install it on your heater box.(2 screws). cut down the Squirrel Cage. to fit inside your new Box.
bolt it up try it out.. easy easy. if you get the heater box..then you have all the parts you need.

Re: a/c delete help please

I just took some pictures of mine. I don't know if they will help you or not as I couldn't figure what problem you were having. But here is mine.

I think I ended up switching the big connector with the one from the AC box.

Re: a/c delete help please

i am about to install my box this weekend. i am in the process of cleaning and painting it. i ordered a new motor and wheel. even though it has only one terminal it is power. the original a/c motor also had one power terminal. but it had the ground in the same place so you were able to use the plug. on mine the original a/c resistor fits in the box. i am going to plug it in. then put connectors on the ends of the wires instead of the plug and turn it loose. the motor will still recieve the same power as the a/c motor did thru the resister and the high speed relay. got my box from third gen ranch for the camaro.

ok so if I got this right Articwhite

I can still use my original a/c motor and just cut about 3/4 off of the cage, do you bond the end of the cage back on or leave it loose?

you can leav it loose.. its stiff enof..it will not flex.(what i did)
i used wire cutters larg ones..(snip)all the way arownd.. 1 blade at a time.
go slow. test fit..

or if you like. cut flush.. and apoxy back on after fitting the ends flush..
it's a cheap part.. and every GM car with AC has one.. the hard one to get is the heater only..

Re: a/c delete help please

Not many of the wires can be deleted with TPI - too many sensors - the really clean engine bays are usually carb setups - very few wires needed.
