procharger bracket
Hi...
After bending the long bolts that are holding the ATI bracket I decided to build something stronger. This have been working perfect this year, along with a spring loaded tensioner. I also removed the lower "idler" pulley.

Re: procharger bracket
Well since I've had belt slipping problems at high rpm with my 3.45 pulley (procharger spinning around 70-72k) I decided to try to built something better.
So far.........
Spring loaded tension
Adjustable pulley that will give alot more belt wrap.
Belt wrap with 3.45" pulley
I can make the slot for the adj.pulley a little bit longer if needed.
Will start with a 3.75" pulley since I also changed to a 8.25" crank pulley.
The 3.45" will give blower speed at 78k
Dont bother about the looks of the build yet, will make it alot nicer if it works

Re: procharger bracket
Looking good. Ive always liked your build.
I need to do the same and Take off my bracket and make it alot stiffer for my novi2000.
would be alot easier on my build as I have nothing but the novi2000 hanging off the D.side of my LT1

Re: procharger bracket
Can't wait to see what I can copy from this. I don't have the ability to make a whole new bracket like that, but I do have a small MIG,, so I can make support brackets. Do you think if I brace the stock bracket, and install a springs tensioner, and maybe soothe idler, I can get rid of belt slip? I assumed that's what you are going for.

Re: procharger bracket
Well here it is on the car
So far its working good, havent done any WOT passes yet, this thing is a beast and I take the tuning slow step by step.
15psi at 5000rpm so far.................next time I'll push it to 5500 or 6000rpm....

Re: procharger bracket
Did you modify the spring tensioner to suit the 12 rib belt or can you buy off the shelf ? Do you have the part number ? I have f1r and will not make more than 5 psi boost. Need more belt tension.thanks

Re: procharger bracket
Hi
Well I modified my tensioner by adding a spacer, seen on picture, then I reused an 12rib idler puller from procharger. Had to make an adapter, there is pictures of it here somewhere in the spring loaded tensioner thread..
But It seems like there is a 12rib tensioner availible for a cumming diesel, see If I can find the part nbr again....

Re: procharger bracket
I was looking for Cummins part number , i found a thread with a international tensioner but only wide enough for 10 rib after mod. Any help would be great, i've only just purchased this F1R system in the last month and cannot stop belt from slipping . Very dissappointed . Thanks again

Re: procharger bracket
some more pictures
compared with stock ATI bracket
Still a bit rough in the design but think it suits the rest of the engine compartment
backside
didnt like the long bolt through the alternator so I modified it

Re: procharger bracket
the stock setup is not the best if you want to push some boost and I think a high stall speed convertor also put extra stress on the stock setup due to the quick rev up. I actually bent and broke the long bolts that holds the stock bracket when I hade 5k rpm stall speed
Making this was actually rather simple the most is made without any expensive machines/tools.
The only think I have not been abel to do home is to lathe...
/N.

Re: procharger bracket
What if you were to just switch out the aluminum procharger bracket for a duplicate one that is made of steel. Would that correct all the problems or does the tensioner still need to be improved upon?

Re: procharger bracket
Actually the P1/d1/F1 bracket isnt that bad. I made a new bracket since I would liketo have more belt wrap and didnt what to "destroy" the procharger one.
Everybody that has a procharger would gain from adding a spring loaded tensioner.
The custom bracket/bracing that holds the plate I made just because I bent the long bolts that holds the bracket in the original set up.
This was a combination of high stall and a misplaced spring loaded tensioner I think. When It flashed and began to pull the spring loaded tensioner made the belt toucht it self and snapped ...... But I would strongly recommend everybody to atleast think of mocking up something like this, its rock solid and a "bolt on".........

Re: procharger bracket
Love the bracket GTA! I'm really new to metalworking and was wondering how you made it? I'm guessing 1/2" aluminum, cut on a band-saw and welded with a TIG?

Re: procharger bracket
Yes 1/2" aluminium. Well since I dont have a big machine park I had to use angle grinder for cutting . Nothing is TIG welded on this, the adj.plate on the back where the pulley is attached is made of steel.

Thank for the link to this.
Right now, I have one made out of 3/8" steel.
Was thinking of going aluminum..

Re: procharger bracket
update
3.85" pulley 15psi at 5000rpm.
no slip, if I use a longer belt I can adjust the pulley down some and get more belt wrap if I need......
Anyone have a bigger pulley? Thinking at 6k rpm the boost maybe will be to high....as I see it know the 3.5" pulley wont be needed.....

Re: procharger bracket
Well since I've had belt slipping problems at high rpm with my 3.45 pulley (procharger spinning around 70-72k) I decided to try to built something better.
So far.........
Spring loaded tension
Attachment 365977
Adjustable pulley that will give alot more belt wrap.
Attachment 365978
Attachment 365979
Belt wrap with 3.45" pulley
Attachment 365980
I can make the slot for the adj.pulley a little bit longer if needed.
Will start with a 3.75" pulley since I also changed to a 8.25" crank pulley.
The 3.45" will give blower speed at 78k
Dont bother about the looks of the build yet, will make it alot nicer if it works

I didnt want to remove the crank so I made a tool and "pinned" the crank like they do on Ls engines.....
