I'm building a double hump torque arm mount crossmember to fit around Alston sub frame connecters. looking for advice from others that have built their own crossmembers and are running highly modified engines. How well do the sub frame rails stand up to the added twist of a torque arm mount crossmember? I've done lots of searching, and found pictures of cracked subframe rails, but can't find any stories of personal experience. My car is an 86 Trans Am. No rust issues, as it's never been winter driven. Thanks for your time.
Re: Double hump torque arm mount crossmember build
Custom cross member with long tube headers, 3” dual exhaust, and X pipe.
If you look at the pictures above, I do not see how a torque arm would fit with a true large diameter dual exhaust. This car has IRS and a 600 hp LS engine, and everything is really tight underneath.

Re: Double hump torque arm mount crossmember build
Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Lots of good ideas and fabrication skills. I will add some extra bracing that ties onto the Alston subframe connectors that are welded in.
