Center Console
well lately i have been researching center consoles and i dont think i have seen anyone try this yet but, how would it look if i made a center console that flowed up to the dash pad like on a newer car. something like this that comes up in the center i have a berlinetta so i dont have the hvac switches and everything in the center its all around the steering wheel i had to put a universal radio mount upside down to install a head unit but i dont like how it looks and if i could fabricate this then i could mount my gps and mabye a touchscreen media center

Re: Center Console
I say go for it, i have never seen it done in a third gen but have seen similar ideas don in second gens where they put a 50's correvete dash and such in to a second gen. But i would sayif you were to fabricate it, fiberglass would be the way to go as opposed to metal, but that is just my opinion.

Re: Center Console
In an a Chevy High Performance (summer 2008, I think) somebody built a custom console like that for a 69 Z convert but also a console that flowed backwards as well, kinda like the waterfall on the 'vette, real slick looking.

Re: Center Console
I was thinking about making a custom one out of like thin plywood for my 91. I think they did it on Chop Cut Rebuild: the bricklin project. I hear fiberglass is hard to work with. Any opinions? Also, if I do custom fab one out of wood I want to run a GPS head unit, make my shift boot fit for the t-56 and add a friggin cupholder!! I'll post some pics of the finished project.
