Fourth gen fuel tank in third gen?

I have a third gen that im rebuilding, and im trying to cut some weight off. My question is about the fuel tank. I noticed that you cant buy a plastic third gen fuel tank. Im i right about this? If so, will a fourth gen plastic tank strap up to my third gen? Any info, or direction to info on this subject would be great. Thanks a million

Re: Fourth gen fuel tank in third gen?

A lot of people use 4th gen fuel tanks. Keep in mind they are different though, in the sense that 4th gens have a built in pump/regulator and 3rd gens do not have the regulator in the tank. I doubt you would see a noticible different in going to a plastic tank.

Anyways though, if you want to read more on it, do a search in the LTX/LSX section of the site, that's where most of the people hang out that have done this mod.
