Bracketology 101

I have a 350 out of a 79 truck that I have put in my 82-Z.I have all of the pulleys for both serpentine and V-belts but none of the brackets. Can I buy any brackets off any V-8 Chevy car ? I only want to run an alternator, water pump and power steering pump.

Serp brackets wont help you much since they only work as a group. You're not using half the pulleys and the idler, so making something work would be a job in itself

Id go with a low mount V belt setup. Check summit or jegs. Youd need to change the waterpump though, good thing they are cheap

No. Not all brackets will work on all chassis.

For example....Corvette brackets tend to sit the accessories up higher than a truck, because of chassis interference issues. Trucks have more room lower down, so they can do that. Corvettes can't.

Same with 3rd gens. Corvette accessory brackets won't work in F-bodies either. You'll hafta find 3rd gen brackets.

Re: Bracketology 101

I just ordered some brackets from summit(their brand) for both the alt and ps pump. I have seen them on another car and they look and fit great. Just do a search on their website and they pop right up.

Re: Bracketology 101

I just figured on going to the salvage yard and pulling the brackets off an older Caprice or similar car with a V-8
