What would you guys think of this?

So i went to the local JY and found a sweet Camaro flashlight. I'm restoring right now. The problem is i don't have a overhead console or the desire to install one or even have one in my car. But i really like the idea of the flashlight.Heres my solution.

I got to thinking where would be a practical stylish place to put this little guy without it looking tacky or trashy.

1. I could take the easy way out and get a little patch of velcro and attach it somewhere in the interior.

OR...

2. I took apart my rear ashtray not to long ago and cleaned it. While doing that i took the bottom of the ashtray out to make way for a project that i later decided against. So my thought was going back to the JY and taking the entire overhead console. Removing the flashlight housing, however i may do that and gluing it to the ashtray mount thats already in place. If there any gap just taking more interior plastic from the donor car and fill it. Then i could paint the whole thing and wallah!

I think it'd be fairly easy and the end result would be great!

What do you guys think? Would I run into any problems?

I'd take a look at both the 'housing' which is fairly large and the outer portion as well because it's not flat before you make any decisions.

There are a bunch of pics, to include the flashlight, in the link to follow:

Here's another, where LED's have been added to the overhead:
