Cold Air Intake

Hey guys I just got a 1985 firebird se factory ordered. it has a 2.8l v6 fuel injected, with a costum exaust. i was wondering what i would do in regaurd to a cold air intake in it. My bro has a Grand Prix and there is an easy way to make a cold air intake, and i was wondering if it was as simple to make one for the Firebird?

Re: Cold Air Intake

I've read of some members using 4" to 5" pvc piping, but that was on TPI engines. Could work for you though!

Re: Cold Air Intake

Alright well tanks for the help.I will try and find some way to do so. When i do i will see about posting it here. An idea that my bro had when he looked at it was that maybe you could put some sort of cone instead of the while box there. But anyways thanks.

Re: Cold Air Intake

there is a thread on here where people have made their own using spectre piping, pvc, and i think even exhaust piping. just remember to get your filter out of the engine compartment to ensure you are actually getting cold air, and not doing a short ram intake that will draw in warm engine bay air.

Re: Cold Air Intake

You could do something like this. Not a very good pic of the cold air setup, but get the idea

Re: Cold Air Intake

just provided extra resources, I'm not sure how cheap these pieces are compared to buying a ready-to-run kit, but here's a site I found that offers the pieces to build your own custom intake:
