Headlights need a mod
87 firebird and im sure like most peoples cars here the pop up part of the lights suck. They dont pop up. Whats the easiest way to make them work? Thanks

Check the dual relay box on the firewall. You might need a new one or just rebuild yours. If both headlights are failing, it has to be something that affects both like the dual relay box.

The motors turn on and go, the healight lamps shine light, but the mechanisms wont make them go up and down on their own. Im the guy that hits the switch then gets out and pulls them up.

what will fix them depends on what is wrong.
When you hit the switch do the ***** on the top of the motors spin? If not then you have an electrical or motor problem, if they do then you have a problem with the gears/3 little drive bushings/linkage. I suppose you could also have the case where the motor tries to spin but the linkage is jambed preventing it.
