Clear T-tops?
Just wondering if anyone has ever seen clear T-tops before? Sounds like a nice idea if you want to cruise around the city at night and still get that clear sky view without the bugs and crap getting in your car. (people in detroit know what I mean haha Damn mosquitoes every) but if you know where to buy them or if you have seen them firsthand let us know or post a pic of it. Thanks

well most t-top cars came with clear t-tops on them. You could probably go to your local junkyard and find some for cheap all depending if you have CC t-tops or factory ones

It's possible, I'm not sure how the glass is tinted from the factory, but it's the only answer that can be given, unless he wants to get a company to produce clear t-top, I'm sure it can be done but I'm not sure they would sell well enough,

Re: Clear T-tops?
No I'm not in the military but I used to live in Detroit. I'm fairly certain that all t tops are tinted, but I was wondering if there is a way to either make them or buy them without tint. I just think it would look nice sorta like the panorama roof on the Mercedes. Besides looks, sometimes I'd like to have a clear view of the sky when I'm cruising around buy the tint doesn't really give me much to look at. And I know I can always take the tops off but I kinda want something different. If anyone has a picture of what it would look like I'd love to see it.

Re: Clear T-tops?
As far as the clear top goes just get a set with them and pull the tint off. It's not a hard task by any means but depending on the supplies you have it can take time. Like on my Camaro I pulled the tint off the side windows and the back hatch in a days time and includes removing all the glue that stuck to the glass. All I had at my disposal was a razor blade (be careful with razor blades as you can gouge the glass with them!) and mineral spirits that I would put on a paper towel and then rub on the window.
If you're not up for the task just take them into any shop that does tinting and they can give you an estimate for time on how much it will cost to remove it.

XO? Executive Officer? Anyway, so now you live in Yuma? I agree with getting another set of t-tops. I hate our summer heat. The sun at high noon is no joke during July and August, even with the tint of the t-top. So I say one set for the day and one set for night.

Re: Clear T-tops?
I'm pretty sure the Lexan t-tops from later 3rdgens are not tinted. I believe the Lexan is impregnated with color. As for the glass tops, not sure if the tint is removable or not.

Re: Clear T-tops?
The glass t-tops are not tinted by using a film like traditional window tint. I have seen scratches in them that appear to go through the tinting though. So I'm pretty sure the tinting is applied to the inside of the glass, but it's not a film. It might be possible to remove it by abrasion (sanding or scuffing), but it would have to be followed up by polishing the glass, which requires professional glass work tools. I'd bring the T-tops to several local glass shops and get their thoughts on what it would take.

Re: Clear T-tops?
I just had another thought about this. The best chance of removing the tint cleanly from the glass is if there's a chemical that would strip the tint coating and won't affect the glass behind it. That way you don't have to worry about polishing the glass afterwards.
