How do I make my headlight pop up 1/2 way?
Hey guys, I converted my headlight to non popup with HID projectors and love the idea of no popup headlights and the best lighting available. But I want to take this is a new direction and picked up some used cheap headlight units with working motors etc.
I want to see or know how people get them to pop up like 1/2 way roughly so I can use 2 HID projectors and no pleaxi cover. When the projectors are un covered the light output is amazing and want to go that route.
I heard of a kit or something that allows the headlight to pop up half way is that true? or how anyone has done it?

The motor control stops the motors after a certain load is achieved, which is created by a rigid stop that the arm on the motor hits which stops the motor from rotating, which creates a locked rotor condition In the motor which is similar to a short. This spike in current draw shuts down the controller and thus the motor.
To maake them open partway, you need to raise the pad on the light frame where the motors arm hits and stops. Easiest way would be to drill a hole in the center of the pad and use a bolt and a couple nuts to make an adjustable stop and fine tune how far it opens. Could also epoxy material to the stop pad to do the same thing.
