'92 trans am locksmith advise
I heard the noise while driving home today. So, after I parked in my garage, I had a look at the trunk.. it appears to be locked.. but it keeps making the noise when I'm on the road. It feels like the lock is loose or something.. Should I call a locksmith?

On my IROC there is only one sheet metal screw that holds the lock assembly to the tail panel. Maybe yours is getting loose? Located under the plastic panel and you can inspect it by removing just a couple of phillips screws.
However, it's probably the plastic pieces that hold the gear assembly in the pull down motor are breaking out and need to be replaced.

Open up the rear interior panel and take a look at the assembly. I'd be willing to bet that the guides are broken.
