Tube front end for a firebird
Wondering if anyone with a firebird has made a tube front end for their car?
I know Rock Solid Motorsports makes one for a Camaro, but not a firebird.
They indicated to me that their kit will NOT work for a firebird, unless you make the flip lights not functionable.

Quite possibly ya.
I'd like to see some pics of someone else that has did it before I cut the front end off, and realize it's too much work

Make no mistake, it's a ton of work
Re: Tube front end for a firebird
i have the rock solid one on mine. huge amount of work. well, i say that mainly because i was wanting my foglights, headlights to function and be in the correct location, and all the body panels needed to line up as good as i was able. once you get the main tubing installed, you will realize just how much work is left to do, because in my opinion you arent even half way done at that point. lol

Thanks @DIGGLER
That is the answer I was looking for!
I also want to retain the functionality of the lights in the front.
I got a buddy coming over this week to see if the whole deal is worth it

Re: Tube front end for a firebird
As much as I would love to have a tubular front end just to have more room under the hood, it's just too far out of my price range. I did the back half on my car and can easily see why just that could cost over $10k to complete. Front end would be even more. Looking at Digglers pictures, it's still not a full tubular front end. It's only been modified forward of the strut towers but still gives a huge amount of room. My BBC with Ed Quay headers would still have problems since it's still OEM behind the strut towers.
If you want to do a tubular front end and a back half on a third gen, it would be cheaper and easier to just build a tube chassis car,
Third gens are not a simple bolt in swap like first and second gens are.

Why don't you guys cut the frame out completely and weld up body mounts to attach to a tube chassis ?

Re: Tube front end for a firebird
In my case, i started out just wanting a 25.5 cage and that cascaded into a back half 4 link. and then 25.3. and then the tube front. was never intended to be a full tube chassis, and as it sits right now would be like an outlaw 10.5 car or what used to be, havent checked their rules lately. they maintained a stock front suspension at one point.

You guys are way more competitive and faster than me. I'm pretty happy with a mid / low 11 second car.
