Because it depends if you have overdrive pulleys on the crank and/or alt. Just take what you have now, go down to the parts store, measure it and get one 1" shorter than you have now. Worked for me, And, A/C delete should not come into play as the pulley is the same diameter as the A/C clutch.

Re: 1LE / AC Delete / Smog Delete Pulley info
ive got mine run with no smog or a/c both are completly removed and ive trimmed the bracket down so i dont have a big hole may remove the powersteering in the future but for now im running a 65 inch belt but anything between 64 and 69 inches will work (guaranteed) im running the stock routing but i come off of the waterpump around the tensioner and over to the alternator down to the power steering around the crank and back up to the water pump it works great but im running the v side (grooves) of my belt on the smooth side of my tensioner im sure its not a good thing to do but at $15 for the belt ive got a spare in the trunk and it doesnt really worry me anyway

Re: 1LE / AC Delete / Smog Delete Pulley info
I have 2 questions
#1. Has anyone figured out if there's a shorter belt that will work if you just pull out the smog pump pulley and or the a/c pulley?
#2. Does anyone know the exact weight you take off your car after pulling out the A/C? Someone told me it was about 80 lbs and if that's the case mine is coming out! lol

if you totally remove both smog and ac you will need a 65 inch belt and id would say that the 80 lbs you talk about is both pumps the ac condensor in front of the radiator and the condensor from inside the heater assemblly plus all of from hoses and such from the smog stuff

Re: 1LE / AC Delete / Smog Delete Pulley info
ive recently had the chance to spend an hour or two under the hood of my car and i think im going to do away with the whole tensioner system i already have my smog and a/c pumps removed and now have a huge hunk of metal just to run the tensioner i beleive that i can fabricate an adjuster for my alternator and run with no tensioner it will run off the crank to the waterpump up to the alternator down to power steering and back to the crank and the adjuster should be fairly easy to make and will pull probabally 10 lbs of aluminum off the front of the motor any one ever dont this ? is there a pre made alternator adjuster i could just buy im running a serpentine system on a L03 block alternator is on the driverside on the top something like the crude diagram shows

Re: 1LE / AC Delete / Smog Delete Pulley info
This thread maybe dead but I just did this on my 91 bird on a Sunday after noon after church all I did was get a new belt part number 815k6 26.00 havnt finished reinstalling yet because I had been fighting with headers got rid of those stupid air exhaust manafolds which I had previously cut the tubes and plugged them with 1/4 brass plugs. Anyway th route I am look at has the groves side of the belt riding on the smooth tensioner which I hope will be okay. Also i ordered that ac pulley... Ohh say about 3 months ago and no word on when it is coming so scrap that idea and just go with the new belt cheaper and easier. Any way that's my 2 cents just have a few questions anyone got a pic of how they cut that bracket that held the pump and compressor? I don't need anything to be held beside the tensioner. And also some one mentioned the earlier third grns having a pirate tensioner bracket, how could I get my hands on one of those? Someone also someone mentioned the water pump might be directional I don't wanna have that going the wrong way. And finally did the other guy that had the groves of the belt on the smooth side of the tensior work out pretty well so far

ya it will throw a egr code every once in awhile and as far as I know you have to get a new chip to prevent that (very easy change chips got a custom one made for 80ish all hooked and ready to go pm me and I can get you the guys name) the code doesn't effect drivablity in anyway

I've had my smog stuff off for ten tears with no codes thrown. I do not believe the ECM cares. I don't think there is a parameter for it.

Re: 1LE / AC Delete / Smog Delete Pulley info
The ECM cares. When the ECM tells the smog pump to pump air into the exhaust, it changes the expected 02 sensor value by 100mv to compensate for the extra oxygen in the exhaust. When you eliminate the smog pump, you're preventing that extra oxygen from entering the exhaust, so the ECM's expected value winds up being incorrect. The result is that the ECU will think the car is lean and will add fuel to compensate.

What about the R-12 in the system. Is there a way to vent/remove what's in there yourself or is it off to a shop ?
