lower intake windage tray

Is the windage tray under the lower intake required? I purchased an aftermarket intake that doesnt have one included and was wondering if I have to swap out the tray or not?.....

Not needed, but they are nice to have. Basically their only purpose in life is to keep hot oil off the bottom of the intake, so the intake stays cooler. Cooler intake means a cooler intake charge, and that means a little more power. Likely not a noticeable power difference though.
