1984 Firebird

Still trying to get rid of my 84 firebird. Info is below and a link to an old ebay add for it so you can see pics (Admin's please don't delete it, it is just for the pictures). I woul dlike to get $1000.00 for it. I need to get rid of it or it is going to get parted out and is too nice car to be chopping it up

Body-The exterior is in good shape, very little rust under the passenger door (pictured) but the rest of the car is virtually rust free. The floors are solid, rocker panels are good and the 1/4 panels are rust free. All the body panels are in excellent shape except the passenger fender, which is dented (pictured) but might be repairable. The nose is also missing the grille inserts and the previous owner put stainless steel Mesh in it's place. The car was painted before I bought it last year but it is a less then stellar job and has cracked in a couple places and has a few chips in it. Doesn't look too bad but I would re-paint it in the near future. I also installed 85 and newer Trans Am taillights and replaced the sealed beam headlights with a regular bulb conversion kit.

Interior- I started replacing the interior but it is still in need of some TLC. The dash top and all of the dashboard trim was replaced with good replacement parts from other donor cars. The console was shot so I put in a nice piece out of a 1989 Firebird, including the radio pod and even a brand new shift plate with the indicator (had a hard time finding one). The seats are in pretty good shape, rears are tear free and there are some small tears in the front seats around the bolsters. The carpet is complete but is faded from being 22 years old. The headliner is removed because the T-tops do leak (probably would be fixed with some new door hinge pins). The door panels are in excellent shape, both armrests are intact. The plastic panels are in OK shape and may be salvageable with some Dye and TLC. Also the rear interior panel is missing. Also I replaced the T-top bag with one in near perfect condition. The radio is a Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio, XM ready, and all the speakers have been replaced with pioneer speakers.

Mechanical- The engine is the original LG4 305 witha 4 BBl carburator. The car had a tune up before I bought it a year ago and Iput in a K&N filter. Since I have had it I replaced the water pump, alternator, radiator hoses, a heater hose, thermostat and most of the fan belts (one was less then a year old when I bought the car). The car starts right up and runs great, has good compression and shuts right off when you turn off the key. the engine does leak some oil (look slike the valve covers). The hood struts (and hatch struts) are brand new. The battery tray is rotted out so that will need to be fixed or relocate the battery. Transmission is the original 700-R4 4spd auto with overdrive. Still shifts pretty good but leaks a little. I replaced the filter, fluid and pan gasket already. The rear end is an open differntial with 3.08 gearing.

Suspension/Brakes- Here is where I did the meat of my work. First I replaced the stock 15 inch wheels with 16 inch Formula WS6 wheels. Tires still have some meat on them but the rears may need to be replaced soon. Brakes are front disc/rear drum and are about half worn. I replaced almost all of the suspension with the following parts

Bilsetin HD front struts
Bilstein HD rear shocks
MOOG Replacement WS6 springs
MOOG 89-newer strut mount towers
BMR wonder bar (silver powdercoat)
36MM WS6 hollow front sway bar
24MM WS6 hollow rear
Polyurethane front/rear sway bar endlinks
UMI tubular Panhard bar w/ polyurethane bushings (greaseable) Silver powdercoat
UMI tubular Lower control arms w/ polyurethane bushings (greaseable) silver powdercoat
*****Wheels have not been aligned since the front suspension was put on so it will have to be done*****

Also the exhaust and bushings has been replaced from the Cat back with a magnaflow stainless steel catalytic converter and a IMCO aluminized cat back exhaust.

wow

its nice to see someone with 3,500 into a car they pipad over 1,000 for and not asking 4,500.you would be down right shocked how many people think you get every penny back that you have in a car when you sell it.1,000 is super far hope it sells fast.im in the south other ys it would already be mine.

why does it sit so high? I'm not knocking you in any way, otherwise the car looks to be in great shape.... i just don't get why it's sitting as high as it is in the front and rear

Don't know, I bought moog WS6/IROC springs and it made it sit high. I think they may have the wrong springrate but the car hasn't really been driven since they were installed, they might settle after a little driving. Pics are available int he link at the top of the page.

were you careful to index the springs properly? In the front, the bottom edge of the spring is supposed to sit inboard between two small holes in the A-arm. I'm not sure if there is a particular orientation for the rear springs though. Being a V8 car, i'd expect that it should sit the same way as a WS6 or IROC would.

I'm not sure, I didn't actually do the install myself. Right now I don't have the time or money to tear into again, that's why I am just trying to get rid of it.
