Edit: For the list, kandied912's name is kandied91z, not ...912.
Sorry super_kev, I assumed you didn't read it. And everyone knows what happens when you assume (***-u-me) things.

Actually cocacolakidd, Can I pull your last post as a quote and post it on my local site for others to read?

Please do post it any where we may get more people to add to the list . The more we have, possibly the cost may go down some with quantity. - Ed -

I am sorry tosay that I am no longer interested in them and have made other plans on something that has been re-engineered and coming availiable very soon. Coilover height on a lowered car will no longer be a problem. This spindle possibilty just took too long for me and it is all heresay with noone for me to contact for proof.

Sorry again, but pease do not count on me any further for a group purchase.

Dropped Spindles

Update:

Early on I contacted Jim Fairweather at Bell Tech about then spindles. He told me they were poor sellers, and were very labor intensive to machine. Jim Fairweather is no longer at Bell Tech. The fellow who took his place is Alvin Rocha, Production Supervisor/ Lead Engineer at Bell Tech. After several contacts with Mr. Rocha he told me he was going to put the Bell Tech p/n 2200 (2" Dropped Spindles for 82-92 F-bodies) back into production around the end of May or early June. He would re-organize the routing to cut down on a couple of machining steps (If he could), and run the spindles in with other Spindles that were already in production. He was going to try to cut down on the labor, and see if they could be sold for close to $259.95 - He was very unsure of the price though.

In the last of March Mr. Rocha went out sick with Pneumonia, and after being out sick then underwent Thoracic Surgery. He is not back at work yet, as of Wednesday, May 11, 2005.

I have talked with another fellow there in the Tech Dept., he said he had heard of the new production of them, but didn't know any thing else, and I would have to contact Mr. Alvin Rocha when he is back.

So this is it in a nut shell so far.

On our list there is around 30+ who are waiting for the dropped spindles, and I have contacted a couple of other clubs, and there is another 30 or so that want them there. So there is a want list for the spindles from us and others - plus who knows how many others across the country out there who may want then also.

I feel that sooner or later they will put them back into production...I just hope it's sooner.

- Ed -

Thanks for all the updates Ed. Persistence is the key here to get these type of things done. I was also part of the movement that was trying to get TA Performance to get going on the production of 9 bolt rearend girdle/covers....Well, I wasn't really part of the movement personally, but I was a willing customer & part of the list that wanted to buy We have finally all placed orders & will take delivery in a couple of weeks.

The same type of attitude & persistence is needed here to get these spindles going & I'm confident that they will go back into production. I'm confident because of the power of numbers & how much all of us want them. We just have to be sure that all of us will actually pay when they do come out I know I will & I'm waiting with money in hand.......well, credit card in hand

So, thanks again to everyone that have been calling up Bell Tech & letting them know that we are serious & want these spindles again!!!!

Anthony

I know how long it took for the 9Bolt Cover - Ages. Thank goodness they are finally almost here. I have ordered mine and expect it soon. I am going to do the same thing with Bell Tech - Just bug them often. Maybe it will be "the squeeky wheel will get the grease." I just hope that Mr. Alvin Rocha returns to Bell Tech soon, so I can get an idea of what is going on with the spindles. He was my only contact that wanted to do something about them. Nobody else there at Bell Tech seems to know much about what he was planning with them. So it's a waiting period untill Mr. Rocha returns. By then I will be calling at least once a week for an update or othert news. - Ed -

I was going to call Bell Tech today and ask them about the 3rd gen spindles, but the only place i come up with is belltechcorp.com, and they make spindles just for trucks... is this the same company?

I just tried calling him today, reached his voicemail and he said he'd be out from June 13 (today) until the 20th (next Monday). *sigh* I want my dropped spindles.

I've been calling for ever now once or twice a week without any luck. He has been out since March. First contacts were great, and all was going well, but then he went out sick, and has not returned yet. Well I guess we will just have to keep calling untill he returns to get an update...Ed.

guys, you might want to be a little careful. This thread has become very popular and apparently his phone number is public knowledge.

If you were an engineer working pretty high up for some company, would you want 50 random people from some car forum calling you at the same time and all asking the same thing? If he is on the fence right now whether or not to produce the spindles, we want to show him there is demand, but not annoy him to the point where he doesn't want to deal with us anymore.

I'd say there should be a chosen one (cocacolakidd) who should organize the whole thing and keep contact with Bell Tech, not everyone calling them whenever we get impatient.

I mentioned this fact once before, and even withheld the phone number, and contact at that time. It has been so long that he has been out (months) sick , and surgery, that even I became a little anxious. With so many asking when they will be back in production, I jumped the gun and published the contact phone number - So let’s all be patient a while longer, including me, and we will have them back into production…Thanks every one, Ed.

PS: Can we delete the phone and contact on a previous post???

Cocacolakidd, any new news on Mr. Rocha? Maybe see if you can talk to the next guy in charge if Rocha is still out of office?

It seems as if Mr. Rocha is back at work; the good news. So far after four calls to him, last week and this week, he has not returned any calls yet - We will see. - Ed -

New to TGO. I am definitely interested. Installed a set of Intrax and I am wearing grooves/holes in my front plastic fenderwells. Just a thought - Did anyone send Alvin Rocha, Production Supervisor/ Lead Engineer at Bell Tech, when he was in the hospital, a get well/ welcome back card, or similiar sentiment? A small amount of sincere empathy and concern for he and his family during his recent tough times seems in order. Your thoughts Coca Cola Kid?

I went a different route so I am out as an initial buyer but my interest is still there for my nest car (1-2 yrs away) which may be just in time for the unveiling. Keep up the efforts this is the best way IMHO to lower our cars.

I call once a week, sometimes two. The JERK will not answer his phone, and will not return calls. I have contacted others there and they say he is in charge of that department. They will then try nto get him on the phone or leave a message for him to call...No answer yet

Maybe we should all start to call. Maybe the squeeky wheel can get some grease?

Thanks guys, Ed.

I had Someone in the sales industry from a major parts supplier call and see if they could dig up any information. I thought due to their employment they might be able to get some information we couldn't. Not very promising but here.

"I spoke to one of their technical service reps today (I think he said his name was Ken). He said he's had people asking, but thinks it is just rumor as he is unaware of any new spindles in the works for those cars or re-releasing the old ones (#2200 I think is the old part #). So, that's not what we were hoping to hear... but maybe if they get enough people calling they'll change their minds. I told him that I have had a number of requests lately, so we'll see what happens."

Between our list (which needs to be added to), and the list from West Coast Camaros - I total 134 people who want the spindles. ~Ed~

WOW that is a ton of people. Are these things getting made?????

Is this not the way to go, if I am running sprotlines? Cuz that would be 2" from the springs, and 2" from the spindles. Isn't 4" inches lower than stock on the ground allready???

Dropped spindles are way better than springs ever thought of being... you keep the correct suspension geometry while making the car lower.

If you plan on scraping loose change from parking lots with a front scoop then you could use both 2" springs and 2" spindles. Any curb, or the slightest speed bump would send you searching for a different route to where you are going - You would probably wind up around 2" to 2 1/2" off the ground - This would leave you scraping the front radiator air dam - the one under the front that bottom scoops air for the radiator cooling. If you take this radiator air dam off then the car over heats.

Spindles are better than springs for steering geometry - but in a pinch the springs do work well enough.

Thats what I figured. I wanted these and not springs for so long, but with the time it is taking, I went with springs. If they do finally get made I will buy some stock MOOG stuff and use the spindles. Or maybe some prokits, to keep the right tighter than stock springs. Anyways, hope they get made some point within the next 6 months. That is when my car wil be done.

I sold mine for 250shipped on here. Probably could have gotten more if I would have held out a while longer.

Ok, well I've had enough waiting. I need a set of spindles by next summer.

I'm going to start working on getting plans and quotes for dropped spindles from a few foundry's near here. I'll see if I can grab some stock spindles from a junkyard at first. The dropped spindles arguably aren't that much different from stock, so I can probably get a pretty good idea of production cost from the stock spindles. Then, if the price is right, I can find a set of 2" dropped spindles to borrow/rent from someone for the production drawings/molds to be based off of.

Now, before we all get too excited, let me say this: I have no idea what the cost is going to be or if it would even be doable. But, I figured that it wouldn't hurt to get a ballpark figure from a few foundry's and actually have something to go on since this thing with Bell Tech is getting nowhere. I want a set of spindles just as much as you do, and so I'm going to start working on it.
