Hey guys, I want an electric cutout. So I researched them and I've decided on the McCord Power Plate. On there websight, they say So I thought I'd see if I can drum up enough for a GP, who's interested? If we get some interest, I'll email them and get some more details.

 

Interested. Depending on the price, I think Id be in for 3.

 

possibly interested in 2 2.5 inch

 

interested in a 4 inch

OK guys, I received an email back from McCord:

So basically here is how I understand how it goes. Regular prices are
Single $129.99
Dual $239.99

In order for all of us to receive a 5% discount, we need at least 5 orders.
Single $123.49
Dual $227.99

If we get 10 to 15 orders, we all get a 10% discount.
Single $116.99
Dual $215.99

And 15 to 20 orders, we get a 15% discount.
Single $111.79
Dual $206.39

So right now we have 5 or 6 people interested, that means all of us would get the 5% discount. I would like to offically start a GP that would end with 20 orders, or, say, may 31st? Whichever comes 1st. I think we can get 10 orders pretty easy, maybe even more if we spread the word to other forums/groups.

Come on everybody there has to be 20 people wanting to get an electric cutout, why not join together and get a discount.

 

It makes no sense to end at 20 orders...what if 25 people want to get in??? Does McCord not want more than 20 orders???

A time-limit makes sense...a minimum # of orders makes sense...but a max # of orders makes NO sense.

 

I'm sure there is no Maximum, just to get the highest discount, they want 15+. It should have been worded differently by McCord, unless they were inplying that over 20, you'd get another 5% discount, over 25, another 5%, etc.

 

Well, we aren't even close to 20 orders, so not even a factor to worry about. So are you in on this? Or do you feel your comment just needed to be seen?

1FASTZ, I dunno if they make a 4" cutout, I don't see it listed on the websight. I know they will make custom cutouts. Why don't you shoot them an email and see.

Rich92, do you need 3 individual cutouts? Or a dual setup and a single? I'm gonna see if your order can count as 2 or 3 orders, depending on what your getting.

Right now it looks like we can start this and have at least 5 orders. I was really hoping we could find at least 15 people. Do you guys want me to send an email asking that this GP get started? When should we shoot for the ending date, May 31st?

I'm in for 3 individual cutouts, but only if we can get 15 plus people.

We should try branching out to other fbody sites. I know LS1tech had a GP for DMH cutouts a while ago, and that one had a great turnout.

 

ive never heard of the mccord brand electric cut out cap. has anyone used these b4 and are they pretty reliable?

 

I'm not really on LS1tech. I look around there, but I wasn't quit sure on where to post.

Ya these are great, have a good warranty, good reputation, good price, not to mention great build quality. Check out the link in my 1st post. I've done some research, that's why I choose McCord.

 

I have NO use for this WHATSOEVER. But I like to scan GP threads just the same.

It just surprised me that you were imposing a maximum order (which is quite stupid ) and I thought I'd bring it to your attention. GPs are hard enough without introducing ludicrous rules

Not my mistake, I got the info straight from McCord. Maybe they don't want to discount more than 20 of them, I dunno. I sent an email asking though. In the same email, I asked that this GP to get started with an end date of May 31st.

 

If this dies out with Mccord let me know, might can do something with QTP.

 

No thank you, I'm steering WAY clear from QTP cutouts, I've read to many complaints about QTP. Unless you can beat McCord's regular price of $129, I'm sticking with the McCord Power Plate.

 

Odd, we have not had any problems out of their stuff and if there was an issue, ie one was hit they repaired it...

 

hes not the only one that has herd that qtp is not good , by doing a simple seach you will find that alot of people complain about em.

 

oh well, I have good dealing with QTPs.

So I already did this. What you do is, go to the their "Store"

Click on the continue box.

I placed an order without creating an account. Fill out everything required .Don't worry, you credit card will not be charged until May 31st, or 20 people have signed up!!!!! Continue filling out all the info Until you get an Order #.

They will update the web page with the list on it daily. For those of you wanting multiple single units, each cutout will count as an order. Unless you are ordering a "pair" of cutouts that use the same switch. (considered a Dual)

My total came to $143.83 when I signed up with ground shipping, After May 31st, or if 20 people sign up, they will adjust the price and charge our Credit Cards. Easy as pie.

Remember, if we all wait until 5, 10, or 15 people have signed upped. We will never get to the numbers. So sign up and at least get a discount. I have this posted on a few other Forums as well. So it's not just the people who have posted on this thread.

 

I'm in but i'm not sure which one i need. i have stock exhaust for a 91 305TPI but I plan on getting an aftermarket cat back system later but I probably won't go 3". I guess i need a standard cutout. What does it mean by bolt releifs required.

 

Most catbacks are 2 1/2" or 3", If I were you, I would just a 3". Even if you get a 2 1/2" catback, you can still use a 3" cutout.

I'm not sure exactly what the bolt reliefs are for in the 1st place. I don't need them with my Borla catback. And I don't think you would need them if you put a turndown after the cutout. What's up? Nobody has placed an order. Are you guys waiting until closer to the end? McCord sent me an email asking if they should cancel the group purchase.

 

I guess McCord was hoping for a "rush" of orders. If they are gonna offer for a certain time frame, they should honor that. If everybody wants to wait until the last day to order, what's the difference to McCord? They aren't offereing a low price based on HOPING for orders. They won't be selling at a lower price until X # of units are ordered anyways. No loss to their pocket.

 

Well, before the GP actually started, I had emailed McCord to let them told them there were a few people "in" on the GP, and I was hoping we would get a few more by the end of the month. But then when the GP started up, not a single person besides myself signed up. McCord is not gonna cancel the GP, I've already talked with them. But if this GP flops, good luck with getting another GP down the road.

 

I'm still in, but I'm not sure what I need, and haven't made time to call them yet. My exhaust setup is as follows: 1 3/4" SLP shorties with an SLP Y pipe to a 3" Random Tech cat and a 3" Flowmaster catback. I'm guessing I want the three inch, but I'm not sure and don't know what elese is required. If anyone has advice, I'm all ears...

 

Very similar to my setup, 1 3/4 SLP shorties with the 3" SLP Y pipe, Borla catback.

You definitely want a 3" cutout.

I currently have a manual cutout, but I do not have a turn down, if I were to do it again, I would have a turn down, especially with an electric cutout.

 

Why? What is the point/advantage of a turn down? In other words, besides the 3" power plate for cut-outs and turn downs, what all else wil I need to accquire to make this work for my setup?

 

Turn down are used to aim the exhaust out from under the car (I guess turn OUTS might be a better term?) or to aim the sound down, away from cops ears to "muffle" the sound.

 

It would also keep all that carbon from the exhaust off the underside of your car. And it would make the noise level more bearable inside the car

 

That's very close to the setup I would like to have as well. I would like the 1 3/4" SLP shorites, SLP y pipe, Random Tech cat and the old SLP 2OTL cat back. Unfortunately Nobody seems to carry the 1 3/4" headers or the 2OTL for one cat systems.

edit: the reason I posted was to say I placed my order today so there are at least 2 people on the list now.

 

Just ordered one, I needed to ask them afew questions, before I ordered.

 

I know SLP has discontinued the 1 3/4 shorty headers, so I would imagine the Y pipe and catback are discontinued as well.

2 Days late, wouldn't have mattered anyway, everybody pussed out anyways. We would have needed 2 more orders to get the 1st discount.

I am on my 3rd QTP cutout. They are horrible. They leak, wires are not strong enough for the heat. Motor works every now and then.


I will sell my QTP for $50 if anyone wants one. 3"

Before warn, I will never buy from them again.

 

That's why I passed on Herron's offer of doing a group purchase on them. I've heard/read so many complaints on the QTP electric cutouts. Even the Mustang guys hate them.

Long been over, Just order one up off the websight. Only 3 or 4 guys bought them. So I doubt it will happen again.

I love it. I had to replace the crappy round switch it came with already, but I really didn't like it anyways. So when it broke I bought a really nice switch to replace it. I also love the fact that it comes with a LED.

 

where did you put the new switch? Same location? or new one
