1987 Silver Anniversary Formula 350???

I was at my local auto salvage yard today when I noticed a silver Formula sitting in the rear corner of the parts barn....

I talked to the worker in there and he said that it was for sale. I looked it over and I noticed the following things.....
Silver Paint
16" Flush WS6 wheels
Wrap Around Spoiler
Light Grey Interior
Cruise
Tilt
Power windows and locks rear hatch pull down
Split fold rear seat
350 TPI w/auto
Flat hood
"Formula 350" Door Graphic
"Formula" front and rear bumper tags.

I couldn't find the RPO list in the console or the rear hatch area.
There was no tag on the radiator support either to tell of the build date or such. I asked the guy if it was wrecked or not. He said not that he knew of.

The car was very clean save a ripped drivers seat. It appeared to have some over spray on the door weather stripping but nothing showed that the car was ever any other color than silver.

The Engine bay was really clean and looked all there.

Is there such a thing as a Silver Anniversary Edition Firebird (I don't think there is...) Is this guy loony? He said it was worth a lot of money.....again is this guy loony.

He said the owner of the yard owned the car and had it since new in 87.

It seems like an ordinary Formula to me. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Edit: I was wrong! Yes Silver 87 Formulas were available. Silver metallic (code #13) was available with Med. grey. metallic (code #84) lower body trim. Only available with med. grey int (10) or black (1) interior. Sorry bout my mess up Source was Fleet buyers guide for 1987. Had a friend look it up.

Also I saw a silver 1987 Formula at a pontiac show today (it had been recently repainted, I wasnt sue if it was the original color) but yup apparently you could get a Silver Formy!

Sounds like a Formula that someone put a regular hood on and sprayed silver. Never heared of any "silver anniv. " Birds either. Sounds like the guy is BSing you. Only factory anniv birds were the 79,84,89,94,99 anniv t/a's, the 76 50th SE and the 02 CE and 83dt500 t/a.

Silver metallic was offered in 87....My guess is this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I think that the car may have been wrecked in the front and since been repaired.

He's got a sticker price of 4500. For a 126,000 mile Formula 350??!!

Don't forget, just because silver was available in '87 does not necessarily mean it was available on Formulas!!

I have never seen a silver Formula, or GTA for that matter. I have however seen silver base coupes, and 1 '86 silver TA stands out in my mind. Never a silver Formula though...and this guy is full of BS about the silver anniversary part...

Ive never seen a silver Formula either. I popped the hood an looked in the engine bay and I even pulled away the rear hatch panel and everything was silver. Unless they did a full frame off paint job I think this puppy was silver to begin with. Im not doubting your knowledge, but I looked and the car appeared to be full silver.

I looked up Okfoz's website detailing the formula and he has a paint swatch under his options section for the 87 formula. Silver Metalic is on there. Just curious.....

Hey...never said I can't learn something new every day That is a car I would DEFINITELY want to see...so does it have charcoal Formula call outs with a red perimeter stripe???

As a side note, while silver wasn't popular on 3rd gens, silver and pewter sure as hell seem to be on 4th gens. For '02s I've already ordered and sold 2 pewter Formulas, 1 silver 3800 convertible, a silver Hawk and a pewter WS6. Amazing how color styles change over time...my all-time favorite 4th gen color is Polo Green, and they don't even offer it anymore, and haven't for some time!
